During my time at Deloitte, I worked on several international projects – primarily in the manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical industries – and, as an SAP Senior Expert Consultant, was responsible for the process and system integration of complex SAP landscapes.
⚙️ Scope of services & tasks
As an SAP Senior Expert Consultant, my focus was on providing strategic, professional and technical support for customer projects in the SAP environment – from the analysis phase to go-live.
Core tasks:
- Strategic SAP process consulting as part of transformation and digitalisation initiatives
- Creation of business blueprints (BBP) and global template concepts for SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA
- Implementation, customisation and extension of SAP modules PP, MM, WM, SD, QM, PM
- Analysis and design of end-to-end processes (production, logistics, maintenance, quality)
- Integration of non-SAP systems via IDoc/ALE interfaces and middleware (SAP PI/PO)
- Project management of sub-projects in the area of SAP rollouts and migrations
- Conducting workshops and fit-gap analyses for international locations
- Creation of technical concepts and specifications for customer-specific add-ons
- Support for integration tests, user training and go-live support
- Advice on best practices, governance models, and SAP Activate methodology
- Complex international rollout projects with varying legal requirements
- Parallel operation of multiple SAP versions and systems in different regions
- High standardisation requirements combined with flexibility for local processes
- Integration of legacy systems and non-SAP solutions
- Mapping of industry-specific processes in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and discrete manufacturing
- High level of coordination required between specialist departments, IT and global SAP teams
- Ensuring compliance, data governance and process quality
- Development of a global SAP template for production, logistics and purchasing
- Harmonisation of business processes across multiple countries
- Use of SAP Activate methodology for structured implementation and documentation
- Introduction of process monitoring and reporting structures for performance monitoring
- Integration of SAP PI/PO to standardise the interface architecture
- Introduction of standardised workflows for approval and quality processes
- Customisation and add-on development to map specific industry requirements
- Implementation of training and change management measures to promote user acceptance
- Establishment of an SAP Competence Centre at the customer’s site for long-term governance
- Standardised SAP system landscapes with internationally uniform processes
