Mummert Consulting – The beginning of a systemic way of thinking
Mummert Consulting laid the foundation for a methodical, process-oriented consulting culture. At a time when companies were beginning to integrate their organisational structures more closely with IT systems, the focus was placed on business process engineering, SAP integration and change management.
This laid the foundations for a deep understanding of enterprise architectures – with the aim of combining technology and business strategy in a sustainable way.
Key topics:
- SAP R/3 implementations in industry and services
- Process optimisation & organisational development
- Traditional project management and implementation of SAP standards
- Early experience in the interaction between consulting and specialist departments
Exsignio – Digitalisation and SAP Innovation
The founding of and collaboration with Exsignio marked the beginning of a phase of specialisation and technological advancement.
This is where the focus on SAP add-ons, industry extensions and the digital transformation of industrial processes originated. Exsignio combined traditional consulting with software development and was a pioneer in the integration of customer-specific extensions into existing SAP landscapes.
Key areas of focus during this period:
- Development of customised SAP add-ons (production, logistics and quality processes)
- Introduction of industry-specific solutions for the manufacturing and process industries
- Development of templates for Schweitzer customers in the public sector
- Interface design (IDoc, RFC, ALE, EDI)
This phase shaped the technical and procedural foundations that later became crucial in larger programmes and global projects.
SAP Stäfa – Industrialisation and internationalisation
The acquisition of SAP Stäfa (or SAP projects in Switzerland) marked the company’s entry into international SAP consulting. The focus here was on global rollouts, harmonisation of system landscapes and the establishment of SAP best practices. The technical focus increasingly shifted towards integration, automation and standardisation.
Core competencies in this phase:
- Introduction and optimisation of SAP ECC in multinational environments
- Integration of PP, MM, WM, SD and PM processes
- Template development for manufacturing companies
- Establishment of competence centres and support organisations
This period was characterised by intensive collaboration with international teams – a decisive step towards global SAP programme management and strategic process consulting.
